Be Kind to Your Mother

Be Kind to Your Mother

If you’re a mom of any age child you most likely have seen or atleast heard the songs from Encanto, a upbeat Disney movie, with a lot of value and life lessons in the mix.
When my sons came home from their dad’s after seeing the movie, the first thing Rhett said was “Mama, there were no villains!”
Boy Moms know all stories have bad guys and good guys. No matter, our sons will always be the good guys, the hero of all our stories.
Especially my two little gentlemen. They rescue me daily.  I write about them often: my Cullen and Rhett.
As I tried to think of something for Mother’s Day, the only thing that came to mind was the song “Surface Pressure.” By the way, if you haven’t heard the rock version of this, I highly recommend to take a listen.
“I don't ask how hard the work is
Got a rough indestructible surface
Diamonds and platinum, I find 'em, I flatten 'em
I take what I'm handed, I break what's demanding”
Out of all the characters, Luisa is who grabbed my heart the most. Rhett was right, there were no villains. Just a family trying survive with their own obstacles.  As a mama, I fail daily. And Mother’s Day seems to remind me the most. Rhett’s birthday always falls during the rush of Mother’s Day. Battling and balancing working mom life is a constant guilt trip.
Birthdays are a big deal in our family. Celebrating is a must. And we always do! I claim the boys get two birthdays, the day of and then the party.  Whatever they want (with a reasonable means)! We celebrate with our large family and friends.
This Mother’s Day, I plan to celebrate, even when I fail. My boys are my world. I love to celebrate them.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mama’s. May you be celebrated. May you enjoy a home cooked steak with your favorite beverage. With your favorite people, may you feel appreciated.
